Could it be used for edis and automatic shift control?

Post by 87fox351 »

The megajolt board has 4 extra control lines that can control anything almost...this is enough to control many automatic transmissions, namely the AODE (4R70w) ford overdrive 4-speed automatic. There are 2 shift solenoids that control which gear to shift, a pwm-controlled line pressure solenoid, and the torque convertor clutch which is also pwm-controlled (around 500 hz). Question is, how much space firmware wise and how much computing power this would require?

I'm going to look at doing something like this.

Sounds certainly possible. There's plenty of flash memory left for programming something like this!

Have been looking more into it, the processor has only 2 hardware-based pwm channels, but surely with the low speed pwm frequencies that the transmissions are using there would be no problem using software-based pwm.
