4cyl EDIS module pinout question

Post by vw16vt »

Was just wondering if the pin4 of the EDIS module need to be connected to something. FRom what I was able to find and read, I would say no but wanted to double check.

On http://www.dainst.com/info/edis/edis.html it says that pin4 would be "IGN GND (signal return)", so I was thinking it might need to be. But on http://www.bgsoflex.com/mjl/mjl_edis_summary.html website, nothing is connected to that pin.

On my EDIS 4 pin has a Brown

On my EDIS 4 pin has a Brown (GND) wire coming out, I think you can splice it toghether with all other GND wires and cable shields (this is what I did on the bench).

If your EDIS harness doesent have anything attacched to that pin I'll leave it disconnected as it was on the donor car.

MJLJ assembly questions

Post by Barry_D »

I already have my MJLJ PCB & chip, enclosure & brass vacumn fitting. I'm about to order the MJLJ parts list from Digikey. I noticed there isn't any assembly instructions posted yet.

Is assembly as simple as just knowing how to solder neatly onto the PCB? And do all of the parts clearly correspond to what's printed on the PCB?

Has anyone else noticed that the PCB is about 2mm larger than the black aluminum enclosure? How have some of you cut the enclosure ends for the ports? And last, this is really important... who's designing the cool MJLJ graphic needed to put on the enclosure? :)
