What sensor?

Post by Mini1293 »

Hey guys.

Long time since iv been on here, got my set up working on my Mini probably around 2 years ago and been running fine since. Im now having the engine rebuilt and making a couple of changes.

I want to change the crank sensor, at the mo iv been running i think a standard ford one, quite long with just one bolt, and to me, it doesn't seem right. It flexes quite a bit in its mounting so i cant help think thats going to affect what its doing.

So i want to change it to one of the short ones with 2 mounting holes... any idea what one it is i need to get?

cheers

Have you got a picture of your mounting? Our experience is that as long as the bracket is robust enough for its size/shape there is no issue at all.

Our A-series package uses 3mm thick steel and can use the same sensor as yours, you can see pictures of it here: http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d37.html One of our early prototypes was made from 3mm alumiunium for ease and as you would expect that could flex/vibrate a bit but not enough to cause any problems.
