unplug the megajolt, run edis only (it will run at fixed 10 degrees).. does it still do it ?

If yes, watch 12v power to the EDIS make sure its constant

reconnect mj and connect laptop, monitor rpm on software. if rpm drops to zero for a sec, but you dont get communication timeout errors with the mj then check the VR sensor signal (scope if you have it, multimeter if not). Make sure the gap isnt too wide.

make sure everything is earthed properly and check the power to your coilpack.. make sure its coming from a nice high current capable 12v point.

Standalone EDIS is very simple. 12v power, VR sensor signal and coilpack wiring are all that can stop it running.

If the EDIS works standalone, but the problem appears when the MJ is in circuit, then let us know and we can move onto step 2

Spockie-Tech has it right. The problem is most likely around the operation of the EDIS module. If the MJLJ was operating irregularly or intermittently, it would show up as a intermittent reduction of power, rather than an abrupt loss of power.

Let us know what you find out!

took the car out last night, cut out on a roundabout with a que behind, started off again but ith pops and misfires....
tonight i repositioned the vr closer to the trigger wheel and tidied up wiring. still the same problems, pulled over and disconnected the megajolt. same problem of misfiring, got home and it cut out.

there are brand new plug wires ( made them myself although the leads are old style copper core ...does this make a difference)

any suggestions???

One of the EDIS components is going bad, or maybe your VR sensor bracket is moving with respect to heat expansion.

When you say "old style copper core" leads.. do you mean they are not the modern style spiral wound supressor types ? Straight copper wires ?

If so, they can produce truckloads of EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interfernce) which will quite likely disturb the EDIS if it gets into the VR sensor or Coilpack output wiring.

Can you easily try a set of conventional plug wires and see if the problem goes away ?

think its sorted now

went to the scrapyard today and got a new coil, edis, va sensor and took a fistful of plugleads.

with the intention of replacing each component seperatley to find the faulty one, i first changed the leads and connected the edis and megajolt direct to the battery and fired up. took it on a test run and all seems fine.

problem solved, ill wire a relay in to switch the live feed

thanks for all the advice
