backfiring thru carb & exhaust

megajolt was running fine,but,have just lost ign advance ,and is back firing thru exhaust,have checked pip/saw pwr supply earth etc all ok ,tried another edis module same .motor will run to 2500-3000 rpm then backfire, . die and then come back after backing off,classic mini with pierce head and 40 mm webers .i,ve run out of idears any help appreciated

Hi,

Apologies for the late reply, and sorry to hear about the problems.

You may want to check your sensor bracket - ensure it is tight, did not shift position and that it is very, very rigid. A weak or thin bracket may vibrate and cause changes in the signal, causing the EDIS module to lose synchronization with the trigger wheel.

Also, the EDIS module will control the engine all by itself at the 'limp home' mode of 10 degrees BTDC. you can unplug the Megajolt and test the engine that way. If you still see the problem, then the issue is around the EDIS, sensor, wiring (including ground connections) and bracket for sensor, as described above.

Please, let us know what you find out.

problem found cold soldered joints and one wire on edis module on wrong pin ????? only done a few miles bu, t seems ok.seems most problems are with wire connections pays to double check soldered joints
