Here's how we have the test setup:

* 12v connected to unit
* PWM output looped back into the Frequency 1 channel. (see picture)
* V2.0.8 firmware / V2 app (latest available in downloads section)
* the RCP configuration (attached to this message, rename to .rcp)

The configuration above was applied so only the frequency channel was enabled.

12v was applied via terminal block and a short logging session was started immediately after that. The log file is pasted at the bottom.

If you could replicate the above and you see different results, then we should probably evaluate your unit.

Ok, should I update to firmware ver 2.0.8 for this test or repeat it the same way you did with firmware 1.2.8?

You can do both, but understand the .rcp config file will not work with the old software.

Brent,

I tried the test as you described. I attached the configuration file I used, 3 log files and a picture of the setup. Here are the details of the logs in the zip file:

RC_8: This log was recorded right after applying 12V power to the unit, with the unit wired as in the attached picture. The laptop was not connected.

RC_9: I left the 12V power connected to the unit and then disconnected the green wire from the pulse input. I reconnected the green wire to the pulse input port and then checked the sensor monitor on the computer. Then I disconnected the laptop and logged a few seconds.

RC_10: Laptop disconnected, I disconnected the 12V power leaving the green wire connected at both ends. After reconnecting the 12V power I logged this file.

From the data, only RC_9 recorded a frequency value.

Thanks for doing that. What version firmware did you use for this test?

That was with firmware version 1.2.8.

I can flash version 2.0.8 and test that tomorrow if that will help you.

If you could, thank you.

If you see the same problem we'd like to inspect your unit directly as we haven't been able to reproduce on our side.

Are you using a 12v power supply or the car battery voltage for this last test? running car or not?

The 12V power was supplied by a DC transformer plugged into the wall, it supplies 11.5V for charging RC car batteries.

I was able to load the v2.0.8 firmware and setup a configuration but haven't been able to load the configuration to the RCP. Each time I try to load the new configuration it gets about 30% complete (based on the bar in the upper right corner) and the Race Capture App crashes with the following details:

I have an autocross on Sunday so I will most likely have to move back to firmware 1.2.8 so that I can record some sweet data on my 944! :D

We're working on updated firmware and an update on the V2 app. Stand by!

Hello - We have a MK1 v2.7.7 pre-release firmware that appears to have fixed the RPM problems at RCP power-up. You can download it here:

http://dropcanvas.com/bthz0/30

If the link above is bad, you'll likely be able to download the official release in the regular downloads area.
