Erraneous tach output in a high rev engine load condition?

Post by alhbln »

Hi,

Ferraripilot is using a new tach pcb i designed for conversions of Veglia and Smiths RCV/RCI tachs to run with the Megajolts digital tach output, and he encountered needle bouncing around 6500rpm but only when the engine is under load. My tach circuit cleans up and stabilize the input signal so i am relatively (but not 100%) sure that it's not the tach pcb.
Question, is there a condition where the tach signal output drops out for a split second, maybe when there is an issue with the EDIS8 output in high rev conditions? Any idea?

Thanks,
Adrian

So it could be an RPM limitation of Johns EDIS8 module which could lead to the tach output issues we see? Not sure how the tach signal is generated in the MJs firmware but when the PIP input signal gets corrupted then the tach signal will probably also miss out.
