Where to find an ford EDIS unit.

Post by Dhutch »

This may be a stupid question, but im stuggling to come accross a comprehensive answer to the question of which cars contain the ford edis four unit.
- Ie, a list of models and ages of fords that used them as an OEM part, should i go looking in a scrap yard.

May also be worth mentioning im from the UK.

A scrapyard that you can go into and take off yourself is the best option ( older and smaller yards ). I had all the parts for £20 complete with all the wiring.
I took my time to take it out and stripped back the wiring as far as I could just in case. This turned out to be of great benefit as the basic Edis install was done using all original wiring and without even cutting and remaking of any wires. This for me helped a great deal as there was virtually no chance of any introduced errors by myself. All I needed to do was run the power lines, done with Ford cable. One more thing, when getting the bits yourself, get the mounting brackets and screws too whilst there, also any thing else that takes your eye.
Regarding the list of cars to take the parts from I had the same dilema so I looked at the pictures on the internet and took a printout with me just in case, confidence booster. Mine came from an Escort P reg.

Have fun !
Geoff.
