what kind of COPs are you using?

make/model/part #s if possible?

thanks.

bj
not sure on p/n off hand but they're off of a 94/95 ES300 running 6 COPs not the model w/ 3 in waste spark configuration.

very cool. i think for my application i may have to look for coil near plug type of setup....if there are any since room is an issue, but nonetheless, if i have to, i can use these and 'make' it work.

the model using the wasted spark is using a coil pack then i guess?

thanks again.

Mikunis & TPS

Post by Wraith »

You mentioned that you switch between MAP sensing and TPS- any pictures etc as to how you fitted a TPS to your Mikunis? I have a pair from an 18RG I'm fitting to my AE86. Will be hassling you more about your MJLJ once I order mine :)

cheers!

unfortunately, i never completed the setup after having been upgraded to v4. i still plan to perform the modification(s) since i still have the v3 unit and TPS. i have the throttle rod design to accommodate the TPS i plan to use. so, the TPS mount will vary based on the part you source. i've got a couple other old corollas i could use the v3 box in eventually but for now, i'll alternate between units for testing in the 86. i'll also make a quick little "adapter" so i can connect my current harness to the older unit (since v4 has an extra pair).

it should all be rather straight forward. just reference the brief thread where brent responded to my initial inquiry of running both MAP & TPS for proper configuration.

Very cool 8)

I had a '71 Corolla once that I autocrossed in SoCal in the 80's. Your ride looks like fun. Enjoy!

sorry to bring this back from the dead....im new to megajolt, but i have tried to do as much reading as possible in my free time.

anyway, just out of curiosity, is it possible to run the 2x EDIS setup as you show it with COP coils that have a built in power transistor, or will i have to wait for megajolt 2 for that? I have 4 VQ35DE Maxima coils laying around... thought this might be kinda cool/different for my 4AGE/MG-B GT swap that should be done this spring/summer.

Dear Dr OCA

I Am following you great COPS project because I want also fit on my car a COPS system (Escort xr3i )

I see that you use two edis-4,

instead of setting up two edis-4 ignition can I fit a edis-8?

With the best regards

That's a really good question. Another question to add to that would be do you position the sensor 90° or 50° after the missing tooth?

The initial thought would be is that 8 is evenly divisible by 4.

This question should be posed either the General Q & A thread or the Operation area.
