Rover 6pot 2,6

Post by houblebouble »

Hi !

At first I want to say Hello to all forum members , as I ´m the first time logged in !

Now my question(s) :

I´v absolutely no idea wich ign. map should be loaded for my engine.

It´s a very old IOE (inlet over exhaust ) 2,6 - 6 cyl. strait engine constructed
in the last 40th by Rover , CR 7,8:1.
This type of engine suffers from overheating problems with burned out exhaust valves
( = the reason why I have to do a rebuilt -

So there are some tuning possiblities to keep the combustion-chamber temp low :
1. rich mixture ( to cool with unburned fuel )
2. the correct ign. timing , especially a higher revs.

Better to loose some performance as to have temp problems again on my new engine.

So I think the MJLJ this the perfect device to reach this target - but I have to know
the correct ign. map.....

Has somebody an experience with this kind of engines , or maybe can support me with
a map , or some data that I can use without risk .

Thanks in advance

Hannes
