A before and after video of a timing light pointed at a crank pulley illustrating distributor vs crank fired ignition would be great. Just seeing the difference in ignition advance stability would super compelling. In fact, I just spoke with another corvair owner in Northern California on this very topic- he's just starting his Megajolt conversion.
We also have our Datsun 240Z conversion project finally starting as well!
Right now I'm importing some preliminary firmware I wrote some time back that has the crank-fired ignition algorithm worked out; I have a nice firmware framework set up to receive it. Just modified it to have a decent command line interpreter over USB-serial

Yarr! Whenever I get a chance to set up a trigger wheel-based system running a single coil, I'd be glad to record a nice video...
I have a sewing machine motor, pulley, and belt, so I should be able to graft a trigger wheel to the distributor drive gear area to trigger off one moving part at varying RsPM.
Glad the forum is back up!

I hit a snag w/ the COPs... too tall for cylinders 2 and 3 (they'll hit the carbs)...
Gotta find an X-ray of the Toyota COP, so I can see how easily it can be cut diagonally, rotated, and re-assembled to make a decent bend in it w/o killing 'em...
Anyone recommend a shorter COP w/ igniter built in?
The Ford ecotec engines have a very short COP with a build in ignitor (Ecotec Ignition Coil 12578224 or 12589623). diyautotune.com also has a cheap/low profile Ford COP that requires a seperate ignitor....

Hi bbrad,
We are currently focusing on the launch of RaceCapture, and will be following up on the Megajolt/C in mid May. Apologies for the delay! The status is it's ready to test on a live engine; we've tested it thoroughly on the bench in a 4 cylinder wasted spark configuration.
Watch here for news!

I think I really need one Brent. The EDIS8 module just won't rev to where my new Ferrari engine is designed to. Wish I had known this before.... no worries.

Thanks for your interest. Fortunately, when ready, the Megajolt/C will work with existing 36-1 trigger wheel installations- a pretty direct swap with existing EDIS systems!

Also anxious for MegaJolt C. I've been delaying a project for 2+ years anticipating this version to be released (Yeah, right, I'd love to blame it on AutoSport Labs but the reality is that there are many factors contributing to the delay) but am now proceeding with the project and will be using a distributor based system if this not going to be released soon.

Hi, thanks for the inquiries.
Right now we are focusing on the launch of RaceCapture/Pro - once that is underway we will turn our attention back to Megajolt/C .
It will be fall at the earliest when we have confidence enough in Megajolt/C that we won't be totally fearful of damaging engines if we hand it to a brave tester. We hope people out there have semi-disposable engines out there to test with!
Oh, did we mention bugs in the beta firmware or hardware could damage an engine? Yeah...
