show me a general overview of the system this site is about? I'm a software controls guy, but quite 'new' to this hobby. I have a '76 honda goldwing, I would like to upgrade the ignition. I didnt know the ford ignition has so many virtues, and is cheap. where does one begin? thanks!

Hi and welcome;

Here's the main info page, from from the wiki (how-to link above)

http://www.autosportlabs.net/MegaJolt_Lite_Jr.

We have 'DIY' kits, or ready assembled and tested in our online store: http://www.autosportlabs.com/-c-1_21.html

The remaining parts you can acquire cheaply from Ford donor vehicles.

Let us know if you have any additional questions...

Ford's always had some nice, reliable electronic ignition designs, starting with their 1973 models.

What is so great about the EDIS system is that it is crank trigger, and can run standalone (not needing the engine computer). So Brent's low-cost controller allows a nice package price.
* New parts available from Ford
* Used parts: $30 at pull-a-part, albeit with some elbow grease
* Used parts: $75 on eBay

Mine's going strong, been driving it regularly since May on my old 1972 Datsun. I reckon the Ford EDIS parts will last longer than the car ... (Pics: http://www.autosportlabs.org/viewtopic.php?p=8297).
