EDIS8 installation - odd firing behaviour.
hi all, i am completing an EDIS8 installation. the system is operational, but the car wont run. it will just start, but is plainly misfiring terribly. in the EDIS8, the cylinder pairs fire at 0,90,180,270 deg, so i have marked the crank pulley with A,B,C and D, at those degrees of rotation. that sho...

dean, without looking it up, i dont suppose your existing gear was terribly expensive. so why not just buy another one, put them both on a bolt, and lock them together with a couple of bolts, epoxy glue, tackweld etc. that will double the thickness and you wont have to change your existing work. ale...

brent - cant delete a message
brent, in this thread in Q&A: rs232 serial cardbus Vs USB to serial lead
.. i was having trouble posting a reply message, but it turned up there twice, and now neither one gives me the option of Deleting the message.
obviously not drama; just letting you know of this minor clitch.

Re: rs232 serial cardbus Vs USB to serial lead
Does anyone have any experience of using an rs232 PCMcia type card in their laptop rather than the troublesome usb to serial lead? My laptop doesn't have a built in serial port :x Also what operating sytems are people using/ are there any known problems with win 98/xp etc? Regards Nigel as a genera...

Re: Timing lights & image quality
How sharp or steady should the strobe image be? With the EDIS alone I was checking for a good 10BTDC but the white mark is spread over about 10deg, from +10 to 0 and gets worse as RPM increases. So it starts in the right place but is not sharp. I have tried 2 lights, both the very cheap in-line var...

Getting back to the ford sensor. What is the smallest trigger wheel that it has been used with? I. ah well, that is the $64 question. i have two ford sensors - a fatter one and a thinner one. my guess is that the thinner type will work with your wheel. unfortunately, i couldnt even call that an edu...

dean, a couple of photos. first, you can see the thickness of my wheel. it is in fact thicker than the VR sensor by a good margin. perhaps you could try buying a second, identical spur gear, and gluing, screwing or tacking them together to increase the thickness of yours, so the total thickness is a...

mazda rx7 vr sensor
hi dean, just re recap on previous discussions, this is my installation using that sensor: that trigger wheel is 35mm across ie about 1.5", so there is a benchmark for smallness. there is a little runout, but <1mm: enough to see as varying signal strength on an oscilloscope but it works perfect...

hi. partial answers... *megajolt MUST be used in conjunction with an EDIS module. megasquirt, conversely, can trigger of just about anything, and has its own inbuilt coil drivers for those who dont wish to use EDIS. *this is probably now irrelevant :) , and as you have been looking ebay you will pro...
