OK, so I've been lazy and not actually tested the unit I have... however... found this thread This thread seems pretty conclusive in it's application. The coil pack I have is a Bosch one, with four pins, so I think we may well be golden. The upside is that it also comes with a rather nice alloy brac...

Will get them Metered tomorrow and report back.
The VW one I have has a rather convenient bracket to mount it to the block :P

I doubt they'll have drivers in them, that would add to the cost afterall :D

Using a VW Coil Pack

I have a VW coil pack (and the right plugs n wotnot), this may seems like an absurd question, however, can I use that instead of the ford pack or are they completely different? Will try and get some part numbers (to get operation schematics) if that helps. It'd be nice to use VW if I can for a more ...

Exactly..so the real challenge is in maintaining continuity so that the MAP on MJLJ can do it's thing, but yet I can still monitor the data coming out of each runner. It would also be feasible (in some way) to check the fuel pressure going into each carb in the same way, but that's a story for anoth...

That's precisely what I aim to do, although the electronics aint that difficult. Standard MAP sensors output 0-5v, so it's quite straight forward converting that into a readin which is then represented visually. I just need to decide whether to run the sensor in Parallel to the one mounted on MJ, or...

MAP Operation

POK, so my MJ is running with MAP, not TPS. I'm going to be running bike carbs, and as such each cyclinder will have it's own header and carb. Now the easy bit is getting the manifold tapped and air lines in for MAP, that bit I "get". As I'm also doing other things with my car, how does th...

You need to take a feed off the inlet manifold, and if you have servo assist braking, this would work.

VW's (Mk1/2 Golfs) use vac assist on pretty much anything outside the engine block... dizzy advance, carb operation, brake assist.

Why don't you just pass the info straight to Arduino instead of linking it into MJLJ? In essence, what I'm suggesting is take the info from the sensors that you have already identified (and any others you can think of, ambient temperature for example) and create conditions in Arduino that will outpu...

Maybe I need to order another arduino??? Might also be cheaper to get a picoduino or 5, lol. Mind you, the whole Arduino platform has developed somewhat in recent months, they're a lot more on offer, including off the shelf Mega chipped boards. I'm still messing about with a few bits n bobs, but li...

Bumpage for old time's sake... how did you get on with this Ryan? I decided to go down a similar route to scooterputer, but with a few changes. Waiting on my touch screen to arrive, but then I'm in no rush whatsoever... making a start in Ernest on getting my engine back together from Saturday, if I ...

Top tip for a reservoir... if you want OE look... VW's in hte 80's use a vacuum reservoir attached to the carb system - VAG part no 049129808C http://i.ebayimg.com/04/!B2CEv2wBGk~$(KGrHqV,!g0E)70qfBYTBMg6-NoErw~~_12.JPG Similar to this Audi also used one (in Black) - VAG part no - 054129808 http://w...
