Virtual channel with getGpsSpeed()*1.6 would seem to be a quick and dirty work around.

It should automatically add the virtual channel to the datalog file when you create the channel. Example here:

Hey Copper, have you tried logging in different configurations to see if you can get any data? Without lua script? Different memory card? Different power source? CAN not connected?

All you should need to do hardware-wise is plug the cable into the car and the RCP.

For RPM, did you write a script to read the correct CAN message for RPM on your car?

Did you try using the built in OBDII PID functionality instead?
