Completely acceptable - that's the absolutely correct way of doing a Zetec...Mr Ford has already put suitable webbing on the flywheel so that you can use the OEM VR sensor and not mess about with trigger wheels/VR mounting brackets etc

Re: Mk1 Golf Gti fuel pump feed
I can hear the fuel pump relay clicking approx once a second. Is the pump fed from the tachymetric relay - I guess it is? And presumably it didn't use to click once per second?...or is the fuel pump cutting off because it's momentarily reaching its pressure? I have wired the clean tach out from the...

I'm no engine tuner, but.... Probably better to have more sites at low rpm, high load so when you jump on the throttle you get the best rpm/sec increase possible and get on the cam quicker. I'm surprised the TPS tops out at 78% - is that with an uncalibrated TPS? I would have thought it worth exploi...

Re: rev limiter
... but th engine just dies is this normal??? No - not normal at all...your relay should be energised at the rev limit and de-energised when the revs drop to 100rpm below that level. What rpm are you setting the rev limit at? Presumably it restarts OK? Cutting the coil power via a relay is generall...

Unlikely - that's the TACH OUT line. But blowing that track is an odd failure mode I don't know what box you've got, but those tails on the component leads look far too long for the official V3 box - they must be very close to shorting out on the case....which could have all sorts of strange and pot...

Even at 3000rpm, I wouldn't go anywhere near a spinning wooden disk with nails in it. And even getting 3000rpm would be a challenge - 50 revs/sec is actually quite fast! What's the plan to get those sort of rpms?...and greater? Send Ben an email (email address on his web site) and see what he thinks...

EDIS should work perfectly from cranking rpm (200?) right through to at least 8000rpm and you should be able to go up and down the rev range at will. Sounds like one or more of: - a faulty EDIS - faulty connections into the EDIS - check the pins in the plug - some incompatibility with VRSSIM - try e...

Re: Testing with VRSSIM - problems
So with the MJLJ totally disconnected, does it still misbehave - that should be a good guide as to where the problem issteve_c wrote:so am wondering if this is an EDIS module fault or a Megajolt board fault.

1 off MPX4250 MAP sensor (PS1) 1 off 270R resistor (R4) 2 off 100nF capacitors (C8, C9) 1 pc tubing 1 off bulkhead connector 3 off small cable ties Component references are from http://www.autosportlabs.net/asl_dist/mjlj/mjlj_v3_sch.png I'd also (definitely) remove D7 and also remove R3 - and probab...

Fixing the VR sensor being the wrong side of the missing tooth by swapping the plug leads is fine. Done it myself on my install  For a map in general: - advance increases as rpm increases - easy to understand - advance decreases as load increases ...for TPS that means that advance is greater a...

You mean: - all the leads fractured and the body of the regulator was floating around in the case? - all the soldered connections broke and the whole regulator (including its leads) was floating around in the case? Some pictures sure would be useful - AFAIK this has never happened before... I always...

Re: Angle sensitive Aux/Knock input ?
Is the MJ aware of the current engine angle ? No. All it knows about is rpm and load (the latter via the TPS or MAP sensor) Wouldn't be too hard (well, it would be quite hard actually!) for the MJLJ to tee into the VR sensor and detect the missing tooth and then work out the angle Or is it just the...
