I think I would prefer a good soldered joint and closing up the crimps with some long nosed pliers to (just using) any of the crimpers shown in this thread. The only acceptable crimping tool would be the proper Molex one IMHO...you're not going to get a gas tight seal between the strands of the cabl...

Soldering iron/tip temperature should relate to the solder being used - and there should be a datasheet or value given for each different solder. Have a browse of http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Fasteners-Production-Equipment/Soldering-Equipment/Solder-Fluxes to see the example different temps for ...

Although the offset is in the Configurator deals with the MJLJ side of things it doesn't affect the EDIS limp-home mode - so if you're 3 deg. out then you EDIS mode fixed advance will be 7 or 13. Probably doesn't matter a huge amount but something to be aware of....

Trigger Offset in the Tools|Global Controller Options menu will sort you out for a few degrees of error. You're probably OK with a bit of "flex" but some people have reported problems with some sort of harmonic vibration of the sensor bracket at certain rpms - around 3000 to 5000 if I reme...

The Sipex SP232ACP works fine with the V3 design (i.e. is specc'ed the same as the Maxim 232A to use 0.1uF charge pump capacitors).

Item number 82-0864 at www.rapidonline.com (£0.86 each) - no min order value but you have to pay P&P for orders under £30...

I use an Antex XSL 25W (www.rapidonline.com code 85-0848) but the 18W will be perfectly OK as well. your 30W is probably a little bit too high. ...but the key thing is the bit size for a V4 kit - the 2.3mm that comes with the Antex irons is like a poker for the surface mount components - you need so...

[EDITED] Yes and maybe! The bootloader is required - it's the bit of code that the PC communicates with via RS-232 to download the .s19 file. The bootloader might be in the .s19 file. AFAIK the bootloader isn't downloadable from this site, but I suspect it is a standard one available elsewhere. You ...

To be completely honest, it looks like you would probably be better off with some assistance from someone you know with medium-level computer skills that can sit with you and work through these sort of things - it could be rather tortuous explaining it all line by line through the forum. It's not to...

The firmware is inside the processor inside the MJLJ - you only need to download it to your PC if you then want to move it to inside the processor inside the MJLJ. If you had a MJLJ kit, then the firmware is already inside the processor, but it could be 4.0.0, 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 depending how old it is....

I have had good success wiring s/hand OEM MAP sensors into a TPS MJLJ - with of course, not being able to use a throttle position sensor at the same time.

MAP or TPS inputs are just a voltage that has to arrive at pin 11 of the processor and represent engine load...

Ah... I did misunderstand

So you want 4 MAP sensors, one in each intake and average them in software rather than using a reservoir and one MAP sensor? And the useful by product is that, somehow, you can log the individual pressures for carb balancing/preventative stuff?

OK - as simple question or five: - how much variance in timing would you expect, across the cylinders, if there was a "black box" that could do individual cylinder timing by measuring individual intake manifold pressures? - if it's small, is it smaller than the resolution of the EDIS modul...

I think the use of a multiplexer and the user outputs to select the correct channel would give greater logging capabilities by allowing 4 or 8 analog inputs for things like water temps, oil temps, oil pressure, EGT, lamda and many more. Yep, it's called RaceCapture http://www.autosportlabs.net/Main...

Have you some info that suggest this is worth doing and a system model for all the components?: - The MAP for any one cylinder varies quite violently through the 4 strokes - so when will you measure it?...you presumably don't want to average it, as that would be done by a reservoir for each cylinder...
