Thanks Brent.
Just out of curiosity, should there have been a Molex connector to fit the one on the MJLJ as well? I got one at a local electronic parts store.

I'll try loading the driver right away (with the adapter NOT connected).

Hello - did you purchase this adapter? http://www.autosportlabs.com/compact-usbserial-adapter-p-57.html I believe this is the one I bought. Came with a DB9 to RJ-11 adapter. if so , you should install the R340 drivers on the included CD, preferrably in advance of plugging the device into the comput...

MJLJ/E communication failure.

There are probably other threads on this. If so, just point me to the answer, please. I just finished installing my EDIS-8 system with MJLJ/E controller in my 1972 Jensen SP. The good news is that the car seems to run well enough. The bad news is that I can't change anything in the controller. All I...

Just thinking out loud here, but why not connect a relay to the coil output wire of the MJLJ (along with the coils, of course) and use this relay to run your fuel pump? You'd have fuel being pumped whenever the coils are powered up, but not when they are shut off (either normally or due to over-rev...

Which instruction are you referring to that has you 'cut a trace'? Install the largest gauge wire you can- 14 might indeed be too big for the hole, but 16 or 18 will handle the coil current for that short distance, yes. From the "Hard Rev Limiter 1.2.0" page. The bottom of the page reads:...

Well, I have all the needed parts and am in the beginning stages of getting another Jensen converted. I have designed a pretty neat VR sensor bracket for these Big Block MoPar engines and I am having the vibration damper toothed to serve as a reluctor wheel. I'll fit it on a spare engine that's on a...

Hi Brent, So if we are using the latest boards we can just ignore the part of the posted instructions that say to cut a trace on the MJLJ board ? Also, the instructions say to use #14 wire for the +12 VDC and the coil power connections, but the boards will only accept #18 wires; given the short runs...

Yeah, the Smith's tach is a current-driven type, not a voltage-driven one as is more common here in the USA. I believe MSD makes a tach-driver which should solve the problem. Or you can do what I did and replace the tach. BTW, I have a 1972 Jensen SP (LHD) and am considering converting to a crank-tr...
