I have E30 316, and I just connected mjlj tach out to the tach in wire (black in my case IIRC).

In my experience its generally best not to as noise can introduce itself into the circuit.

Are you sure that there is a difference in earthing to the chassis or to the battery terminal? What noise? And why is it not able to (properly connected to the battery) chassis?

Patriq, the mjlj only reads resistance from the temp sensor, and I did not bother with deep analysis how it operates. Here is the result file from my easy-therm.

Load it in mjlj configurator. At known temperature check what aux gauge reads. If necessary edit the file and add more zeros from the top or from the end of the file, but keep it at 256 lines.

Not sure if it will be correct, post back the results.

OK, I did it. I used a cup with a cold (tap) water, and a cup with a warm (~65 Celsius or ~150 Fahrenheit) water and dipped temp sensor to each cup. No voltage change. It stays at 0.00V.
