Nice idea.... ...but, raining on your parade a little, that seems a little too close to a safety critical system to me. Insurance Company: I see Mr Fiddler, so you uncontrollably ran into the back of Mr X as you've fitted a full authority throttle positioning system driven by a community-based PWM-c...

Still a bad connection somewhere that might go bad again? Try subjecting the PCB to mechanical stress while measuring pin 11 - twisting, bowing etc. If it's been built badly (you already found one end of all TPS components not soldered at all) then there may still be a bad surface mount solder joint...

Whatever it is, Plan C will fix it. We just have to think up Plan C :D

Make sure you do the pin 11 test with the TPS wired up as normal, not just with Vref bridged to the TPS input.

OK. It looks like it could be the 'via' north of R3 - its a hole in the PCB that should should have a link through to the other side of the board where you will see a trace that goes to pin 11. Best to confirm this in your own mind, to maje sure we're talking about the right pin 11! With the multime...

So, WITH ALL POWER OFF, is there direct connectivity between the north end of R3 and pin 11 on the processor - use a multimeter on it's connectivity/beep setting...

Would be worth checking that the TPS voltage is getting all the way to the processor - check (carefully) the voltage on pin 11 of the processor as you depress the throttle Use a multimeter set to volts, black lead to earth and red lead to pin 11 of the processor. Don't short out any of the pins on t...

Hi I haven't got a great deal to add to what others have said on the thread: - test that the coils will give you a spark when you manually apply and remove an earth to pins 1 and 3 (with pin 2 at 12v) - check connectivity from your external wiring to the inside of the EDIS plug, just to make sure th...

It's fused on the lower current range and unfused on the 10A current range - so just be very careful when measuring high currents. Otherwise, I'd go for it. I've a 10A range on my meter and I don't think I've ever used it - volts, resistance and continuity are the most common things to use. At best ...

Power to the MJLJ is all you need to calibrate the TPS.

More importantly, do you get a varying voltage on the TPS input pin to the MJLJ when you move the TPS (with it powered up. of course)?

You need to point that sensor at the middle of the trigger wheel, not the middle of the alternator :) ...and get the gap as small as possible - withing 2-3 mm max. You might get a reading with a DC multimeter but I can't really estimate what it should be. Strictly speaking, it should read 0 volts, b...

....well you could hook the output up to an oscilloscope and see the polarity of the waveform around the missing tooth is as the trace on http://www.bgsoflex.com/mjl/mjl_edis_summary.html (i.e. negative to positive going), but that may be a bit extreme :) ...

...or just find a feed from somewhere else that is only on when the ignition switch is in "Run" and "Start" positions and wire the MJLJ power to that (with an inline fuse) Otherwise you might be looking at this strange wiring for some time.... Sounds like an earthing problem to m...
