Is it MAP or TPS? Can't help thinking that advance under high load and low revs is too little. In case you have a stutter at low revs while accelerating from idle, give more advance in the 600rpm column instead of less at higher load, helps to rev up more smoothly. Check my second Saab Sonett III ma...

A wideband system doesn't help you to calculate the AFR, it presents it to you on a display. Go to Ebay, search on ''wideband AFR'' and several systems will pop up.

Good luck,

I am getting confused. The first conversion programme I picked showed 25 KPa to be 7.38 inHG. 15 inHG is 50.8 KPa, 20 inHG is 67.7 KPa. The first value is quite low for idle imho, the other two quite high.

Does the plug give a spark when you have it out of the engine block and have it earthed?

No, 10 degrees Edis-only advance is limp-home advance. When there is no ECU attached to an Edis module or when the ECU is faulty the Edis module will fire the coilpack at 10 degrees BTD. The moment you connect an ECU this setting is overruled and the SAW-signal from the ECU takes control.

Sounds like the most logical thing to do. Makes life a lot easier afterwards when the basics are set correctly.

Try Nodiz, which is ignition only, or Megasquirt. Nodiz is the cheaper one that doesn't need an Edis module; it has inbuilt coil drivers. Doubt if it supports COP but you can always ask. When you try Ebay UK it will show up.

You are looking for features that should be on the new Megajolt 2, but we have been holding our breath for that for so many years that I wouldn't bet on when it will materialise. The Edis system doesn't only mean using the coil and Edis module but also convert to a 36-1 trigger wheel; it won't work ...

The only thing I'll need to figure out is the cranking advance at start up, but this should be a case of trial and error Not really when you know the static advance that is used. Must be known somewhere in the VW-community. Might even be vsible one the engine block or pulley with a specially marked...

In the "How-To" department of this website you'll find everything you need to know. I am not too Ford familiar, was Zetec still dizzy operated or did it have Edis?

Yes, but you get a very 2-dimensional performance. Only parameter that changes timing is rpm, load is constant so you end up with advance as programmed in the nill-load row. Not quite a performance boost.

Do you also have list with vacuum advance values? You need to know at least maximum vacuum advance. When you know that you can play around and find out what suits best.
