The pinout is of the back of the connector so looking from the outside, pin 5 is top right. If you are behind the connector and can see the wires, it's on the left

That's better!

To answer my own question, think that was engine braking which makes sense. Since then, I've moved the coilpack further away from the sensor which has made things a lot smoother. After getting the HT leads back in right order (idiot!) the engine runs like a dream

Looks great. I'm a little concerned about my install now. I removed my distributor yesterday to mount the coil pack in its place but your comment about the oil pump drive has got me thinking - is this a common arrangement?

What's going on here?

This is a portion of a log that looked interesting. I think it's when I was slowing down to stop at traffic lights so I'm confused as to why the load increases towards the end (the continuation of this log is just a section of idling where the RPM and load values remain pretty constant) As you can s...

Your MJLJ should have come with a cable that plugs into the RJ11 on the MJLJ and terminates in a 9-pin serial plug (female pins). You need a cable with USB at one end and a serial port (male pins) at the other. I bought an FTDI chipset one

No, the MegaJolt communicates on a different protocol and you need some hardware in between the MJLJ and the USB port for it to work (you need a Serial-USB converter). Don't try plugging it into the phone port on your laptop - won't achieve anything and could damage things

Would a diesel tacho (that connects to the "W" terminal on the alternator) work with the MJLJ output? My petrol engine redlines at 4500rpm so most petrol ones have too high a range

Cheers, Dave. I'll have a look at doing that as it should neaten things up a bit although my splicing is working fine at the moment

You could try loading a "flat map" (i.e. all of the same value) into your MJLJ on the switched channel and flicking over to that to see if you can find a value that works. That said, if you unplug the MJLJ and run on EDIS alone, do you have any luck? This should give you a static 10 degree...

Great idea and congratulations for not slipping with the angle grinder! At least you won't have any problems with it coming loose!

Here's the video illustrating my problem. Sorry about the quality but hopefully it's clear enough with the annotations

I've actually videoed the problem but haven't uploaded it yet. Let's say that my current ignition map is commanding an advance of 20 degrees 1) If I select the current bin (or group of bins) and change the value to, say, 25, it will show this in the 10x10 table 2) Pressing "write configuration&...
