run-time display

I do not see much value in this dash display idea. Just another dashboard frill. However, as I have communicated before, an accurate voltage in the 0-5 range, indicating advance, would make logging a breeze. When coupled with the other dynamically changing engine operation parameters, the informatio...

Map connector

Sorry you are having trouble. USB -> Serial worked fine for me without any fiddling but I did notice that if I plugged in into a different USB port that the laptop (W2K) wanted to install it again and I avoided that as it looked like a trap. May I ask where you got the plastic bulkhead connector for...

pins

Just a thought, when I used to make cables up I ocassionally would forget that the pin #'s start on opposite ends of the connector for male and female.

unused pins

Sure. Don't know how to take them out of that connector though, not sure a molex removal tool would work. Maybe you already figured that out.

wire identity

If you are talking about the center coil lead, it's +12vdc.
It is actually red/green but yours may have aged the red to look like brown. The wiring is clearly identitified in the installation part of the manual which is just a few clicks away under Project Information Library. Hope that helps.

timing

Since there is no soft limiter, it sounds suspiciously like you are running at the default 10 degrees which is inadequate for the rpm bandwidth. 1) Did you verify advance with a timing light? 2) If so and your static is 10 deg and it is advancing, what is the timing at 4500? 3) Did the engine rev > ...

Simulator

What a great contribution! I used method 2) only. From desktop to Laptop with a USB converter on Laptop. Ran applications in both directions starting simulator first and then runtime connection on tuner. Don't know what "Mod Type" is about. Probably too obvious. Could not connect with Bren...

A/F

Something of a misnomer when labeled for A/F monotoring. Just a voltmeter for reading a narrow band O2 sensor. Such sensors only read accurate at stoic, anything else is simply above or below without any relevant scale. You will have a light show but no worthwhile information as non-stoic reading ar...

extrapolation

With extrapolation between the map points, it would seem that you could build a very sophisticated curve with the number of points alllowed. Some guys posting here seem to want more, maybe they are capable of determining a more granular map on a dyno. Personally, at some point it dissolves into timi...

A-series

If you don't mind me asking, what displacement, block, crank and flywheel is your racer using? What rpm are you wanting to run? I am not sure where the rpm limit comes from. There are aftermarket EDIS coils if the coil is the problem such as the Accel Ford Super EDIS Coil.

Serial port blues

You noted a couple interesting things in your messages. 1) You had to use other tuning software because COM6 got assigned. 2) You are using a USB<->Serial adapter with drivers. Some people report problems using converters. It would be nice if the DIY stuff was all USB compatible since the basic RS-2...

9V ok

9V works for me. 1) Verify that you have a straight through serial cable, pins 2 & 3 on both ends are same. 2) Put a jumper between 2 & 3 on the end that you would plug into Megajolt. Launch Hyper Terminal from Windows Aaccessory -> Communications menu. Go to File -> Properties and verify CO...

Sorry

I posted to the wrong thread concerning the Map sensor. I stopped at an electronics store (fry's) and picked up a package of SQ-16-P2 which worked fine for the IC machined sockets that Digi was OOS on.

Same problem going the other way. Big brother is just going to get their due. Don't have to pay VAT coming this way but if a vendor charges it, you can recover it. But import duties apply coming this way and often the declaration does not handle the fees or product category correctly and then it get...
