It's a design feature - don't worry about it!
It's not a 400rpm offset that always applies - it will show the correct rpm when the engine is running

Welcome! Presumable you're running fuel injection rather than carbs? You need control of fuel and sparks - you can either do it with a Megasquirt for both (bit complex IMHO) or a MS for fuel and a MJLJ for sparks, which is quite a common setup. MJLJ only does the sparks but is considerably more func...

Well, ignoring the injector requirements, which the MJLJ will obviously not do.... ...and answering the easy question, the MJLJ/EDIS/standard coil combination won't do more than about 9500rpm in its four cylinder version, by design (I've got the details somewhere of why it tops out at that rpm, but ...

Re: losing tps when engine is running
As soon as i start the engine the tps goes Don't really know what you mean :( Goes where? On the Configurator? To 0%? To 100%? To something else? The rev reading shows on the computer but not when it is connected to my digi dash Don't really know what you mean :( You mean that the rpm reading on th...
The best thing is to measure the pin 2 voltage with the TPS connected - you should be getting something that changes with rotation, from 0V at one end of rotation to about 4V at the other end. To check the TPS standalone, you need to be able to measure resistance using your multimeter. From your des...

If you can start it, drive it and you have reasonable power then the coils are definitely the correct way round - if they are the wrong way round, you wouldn't be able to do any of these. Backfiring on overrun could be a number of things, but the first thing to check is your map. Can you post it her...

I must be being dense here.... An oil pressure switch like Salamander's (providing there's not too much PTFE tape rendering it completely isolated from ground!), switches the ground connection of a lamp when you have no/low oil pressure. At high pressure it goes open circuit and the light goes out. ...
