Re: VW with a misfire
I was following the verification steps on the installation page. It says to verify the PIP signal: Measure between EDIS pin 1 and ground. The result should be Approx. 12V when engine not running. I only had 9.3 volts. The battery is fully charged. When I unplugged the MegaJolt I get 12.4 volts betwe...

VW with a misfire
I have been using a Megajolt ignition on my air cooled VW for 10 years and been very happy with it. It has developed a misfire that I’m having trouble diagnosing. It’s a 1956cc with dual Dellorto 36mm carbs. When I pull an ignition wire off cylinder 1 or 3 the idle speed makes a very slight change. ...

Runs w/o advance and will not communicate with laptop
My VW motor runs but the ignition will not advance. This system has been in use for about 3 years or so. When I got the car out this year it just didn't seem to run very good. I cannot get the laptop to talk to the MegaJolt. I checked the advance and there is none. I have gone through the "veri...

New Laptop-Timeout Error
I recently needed to upgrade my laptop. The old one was running windows 7 and communicated fine thru a USB to serial adapter to my MegaJolt. My new windows 8 laptop will not communicate with the Mega Jolt. I have confirmed that the new laptop is "seeing" the adapter and I have set the Mega...

Communictaion Issues
I've had my MegaJolt installed on my air cooled VW motor for a little more than a year. I have NEVER gotten all the bugs worked out.... Now I have more issues. The software suddenly stops "talking" to the MegaJolt. I can start the motor and the software will display the RPM etc for about 1...

Thanks for your help Nitropixie. So I want to map in as much advance as it will take without detonating or pinging? I do have a couple air cooled VW maps I've been playing around with. I will keep experimenting. I wasn't sure if there was some way to use the info from the datalogger to help dial it ...

How do I tune my motor?
I am enjoying my new MegaJolt/EDIS ignition on my air cooled VW motor. How do I "tune" my motor? I have a spark map loaded up and the motor runs pretty good, but how do i know what the spark map should look like for optimum tune? Can i use the data logger or is it all just a trial and erro...

1641CC VW Frustrations
Just got my dunebuggy runnuing on the MegaJolt however, it does not run well. It seems to miss at idle. As the RPM increases the motor smooths out. Also the software shows that it is idling at about 1000 RPM and 12 degrees of advance. My timing light shows that it is at about 20 degrees of advance. ...
