Serial communications problem WinXP

I have just moved all my project stuff from one computer to another, from Win98se to WinXP. I'v got my MegaSquirt running fine, but am having problems with MegaJolt. When I come to select the com port (same as works with Megasquirt,com1) I get an error msg in the command promt behind the Java app, &...

ignition based launch control

Hi, Could , in the future, be possibe to impliment a ignition based launch control mechanism? Using lots of Retard to reduce engine power when wheel spin is detected.? I'm not sure what sort of sensing equip would be needed to detect wheel spin, I guess it would need sensors on front & back whee...

Anyone have a Ford Zetec map?

Hi,
I have been searching the web for info on a Zetec ignition map, and have had no-luck.
Has anyone here got a map for a 1800cc or 2000cc Zetec ?

would be most appreciated.

I dont seem to have any working PGM outputs - when testing w

Does the MJ need to have the EDIS PIP input to have functioning PGM output for testing ? (when testing MAP trigger points - not Rpm.) I am testing to see whether the programable outputs work, I am using the MAP as a trigger to see if I can get a 'switch to ground' from the either the PGM 1,2,3 or 4....

Hi

I think you need to have power to the MJ board before cranking, i.e. from your ignition switch.
My MJ was taking about 30mA @ 12volts , I guess if you fuse it for 0.5Amps that will be more than adequate.

all out

Hi,

I've got all the transistors out, they all came out suprisingly easily. I've redone my output plug, now its much more neat.

I'm just waiting now for the replacement trasistors & a new case to arrive.

I have got a sucker..

I have got a solder sucker - very old one I think, the sucker tip is made of plastic, and is a bit melted, I will of course try it before anything else..

I guess better than a cooked chip..

I feel better now knowing someone else has done it..hehe

I do hate replaceing components on a PCB takes me ages, Im going to cut the tops of the transisotrs and just pull the legs through individualy when unsodlering, saves doing 3 legs at once.

All the best

cooked the 2n222a's

I've acidentally reversed the power input polarity, the 2N222A transistors got very hot. I think have blown, none of the Programable outputs seem to work. (I've been using the MAP trigger as I've dont have any other way of triggering - still bench testing it/not in car) The board still works / I can...

Hi,

Having the wrong Flow control settings in Hyperterminal wasnt a gd start in locating a fault, but I think it was a hardware issue. Originally I had ordered all the components from Rapid Electronics, UK. I had ordered a too big a diode for D1 & D5, I think I had used 1.3W (short-fat blue/black ca...

Hi brent. - -stil no luck.

Ive now using the same cable as with my megasquirt, and the problem persists. Ive tried using Hyperterminal to communicate with the board, 4800bps,8,none,1 but get nothing when I type 'C', 'S' or 'Z'. I'm concerned this is going to be a hardware issue. My board was built with no problems during the ...
