as far as hooking the MJ to your laptop: No you can not plug it into the modem. You will need an adapter to get from RJ11 to a standard 9 pin serial. You'll need a serial to usb adapter since you don't have an actual serial port.

I would set this up as having the 12v feed for the coil coming from the relay where the EDIS module and the MJ are powered from. For the tach to function it will need to use the tech output from the MJ or an aggregated signal from the coil using something like the tach adapter http://www.autosportla...

If you look at the tip of the sensor, at least with the explorer sensor that i'm using, there is a metal bit, I put this as close to dead center with the wheel as i could get it.
It would probably give a more consistent signal in case the wheel has any run-out

Not sure if it is just me but it looks like the sensor should be out farther so it is centered on the trigger wheel

This is coming from a novice when looking at these, but I wonder if these maps are solely for the distributor and are not taking into account for the base timing set when adjusting the distributor itself. If so you could probably throw a few more degrees on the first column of the map in an attempt ...

You're sure you are looking at the correct end of the EDIS plug? #1 and 3 are for the PIP & SAW signals that will go to the MJ. When using EDIS w/ MJ, #2 isn't for anything. I'm only running a standard MJ setup, so I'm only guessing on the COP part but: Pin 10 off the EDIS module would be wired ...

EDIS is wasted spark, two plugs will be firing at once. One of those cylinders is on the compression stroke and the other will be on the exhaust, where there is nothing to burn so it is wasted. correct, when looking at the coil where the plug is on the bottom, the left half will fire then the right ...

Check your plug wiring again, you have a normal firing order so just hook up the plug wires following the marking on the coil. 1&4 will be on one side of the coil and 2&3 will be on the other half. but it sounds like your getting spark.
Maybe double check your trigger wheel orientation.

After lurking and reading nearly every new post since I had joined I finally finished and installed my Megajolt v4 Quick back story: This truck came to us after it had been overheated. the PO had the head decked but never resealed the motor, so it was all corroded. Went to the JY and happened to fin...
