Of course if i think sensibly about this, 102 is atmospheric, it means im pulling 62kpa of vacuum (18" HG)
sounds right for a good engine.

ignore my ramblings, its a LOAD gauge, not a Vacuum gauge

Manifold Vacuum / Kpa gauge readings

Hi, finally sussed out the constantly fluctuating vac advance 35 -45kps - made up a crude plenum box and now its steady at 40Kpa.. My question is.. I'm running an edelbrock performer (weber 500) carb, my book gives the idle/lean/rich power spring values in Hg example blue spring=3Hg 3Hg = 10Kpa this...

thanks

Thanks again Alex! Been fiddling with this on/off all day, my MAP was flicking between 35 / 45 Kpa all the time - so Ive used an old fuel filter to make a plenum, now its steady at 40Kpa. Also there was a 5 degree trigger offset set in the config - removed that and now i get a matching reading with ...

hmm, one more stupid question....

the 10* edis static timing, is that included in the total advance?

If I set the all in wide open throttle bin to 36 degrees BTDC all in does that include the 10 degrees edis?

or should i be setting 10deg(static)+26deg(bin_value)=36 total?

ok thanks.
right, nearest i can do is about 11 rock solid without vac.

with mjlj back on, now i can start to redo my bins, make up a vacuum plenum box to hopefully smooth out my lumpy idle.

Silly Question - VR sensor/trigger wheel

Hi, had the MJLJ running on the v8 for about 3 years now, but could only line up on 6th tooth not 5th with the bracket and wheel from trigger wheels. So settings were always 10 deg out, and adjusted accordingly in offset and bins. Finally decided to do it properly but having issues..Hopefully someon...

Base timing correction

Hi my trigger wheel is slightly out, so I am 4 deg off the TDC, this means I am having to reduce each bin in the ignition map table by 4 degrees to match up the actual timing marks on the crank pulley (with timing gun) (i know the timing is spot on as i did a piston stop measurement to calibrate. my...

good thinking andy, i had forgot about that adittion i must say. I am beginning to suspect the front pulley timing marks arent correct either, so i'll be doing a dead stop check on it at the weekend. Nice to see another gt6 by the way apologies to all, i seem to have hijacked the ignition map thread...

might have to go back to the start..

had a mess about earlier after 7 mile warm up run. standard 3.5 v8 weber/edelbrock 500 carb with the map disconnected and vacuum end plugged, the KPA reads 102. the idle is still high at 800/900 rpm, dropping idle speed screw has no more effect. idle mixture is optimal as per revs highest and back o...

thanks, so all i really need to do is pay attention to the map sensor readings and back off the timing on true atmospheric, give it more after say 4000rpm than usual, and smooth it over generally. i still need throttle response though, so cant wind it back too far. any suggestions on this? my curren...

Triumph GT6 with Rover V8 3.5 with Weber/Edelbrock 500

Probably been asked for before but i cant find it in posts. I have a map fo this but its way too lumpy on idle, need to swap out my carb jets cos im running 15mpg. I need a map for ecomomy and a map for full on race, so i can switch between the two, anyone got one? 0-60 6 seconds @ 13 mpg :-( Martin
