Connectors

It is hard to find the connectors used in modern cars in the UK, I was in need of a female plug for my crank sensor it was not the junior timer type. It looks like this firm can help (http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/www.simtekuk.co.uk/info.php?p=12&pno=0). I also asked about the EDIS pins, the chap sa...

The Smiths gauges used in the UK as far as I knew were 10V not 12V. To regulate a supply you need to have some "headroom" to cope with fluctations. I made up a surface mount replacement that I installed in the old metal case. On my old VW engined Skoda van, the temp sensor had two sensors ...

Two thoughts on this, one install a 10 volt three terminal regulator in place of the bi-metal regulator. Using two Shockey diodes, one in the path from the gauge to the sensor, one from the megajolt to the sensor. I have not tried it myself but I face the same problem when I get my setup installed, ...

It may be possible to divide the pickup signal by two, this would be a "low level" signal so it would be prone to interference.
A simple bi stable is what you're after, you would still need to get the "gap" in the right place for your engine's number of cylinders.

I have just posted this info, you might want to check it out. "If you go for an electronic tacho as well, Chris Witor has had a blanking plug made to fill the hole including the dizy pedestal. Just shim as before to set the end float on the oil pump / dizy drive gear. The're not cheap but it do...

If you go for an electronic tacho as well, Chris Witor has had a blanking plug made to fill the hole including the dizy pedestal.
Just shim as before to set the end float on the oil pump / dizy drive gear.
The're not cheap but it does tidy up the engine bay!!

Thanks Brent, I did not know the module had that function, I came accross it quite by chance.
I can understand that there are a lot of features people want added! :D
I think it would be useful for the leaner burn engines where the charge is hard to ignite.

Ignition system with repetitive sparks

I have found reading about the EDIS module on the net, that it is possible to have the unit perform repetitive sparks. The infomation suggests this is available at 1200 RPM and below. I wonder if it could be considered as a possible "upgrade"? This link details the patent on the system. ht...
