Has the diode trick been done with the two diodes and the zener diode to make your tach work? Is it possible that some of the voltage between the two coils is making is past the bias of the diodes?

Well its a version 3 board and its over at my friend's house right now. He is going to tinker with it while I wait for the new version 4 kit I have ordered. You guys are still in WA right so it should take too long?

Oh by the way, thanks very much for the diagram Ryan.

I do have a good DMM and am very capable when it comes to electrical. I am an auto tech so I also have my trusty labscope too. I have not done any surface mount or though holes work so I did not assemble my mjlj. Its a version 3 unit so if I knew where to look for what values then that would be awes...

Okay so a friend of mine soldered in a new voltage regulator onto the board nut the mjlj will not work. I tried loading new firmware but it gets stuck with a neverending pulse break. Any ideas that could see me racing tomorrow or is it just dead for good?

Help! Fried voltage regulator?

I am not a surface mount type guy so I am only guessing. The three pin part in my old mjlj has a big heat crack across it and the unit is inop. Its a part marked WO6239 with an LESOABP below that. Can I get this part locally for a race tomorrow?

I am very interested to see how the gps will work together with the accelerometer module. I can envision being able to datalog and playback each solo or soloII event and see where the strong and weak points end up being on the track.

I would also add that you can't really effectively starve the negative side of the coil like you can on the positive side. The negative side is really a digital (on/off) signal, I sometimes call it the "make-and-break" signal.

Brent designed it solidly and it works just fine.

Yes Brent, the car was fixed very well indeed! (maybe better than before the littel rats flipped it) So here are some pics of the coil-packs with a tape measure. I run them with full reach and the blue dust boot added to fit my valve cover. You can easily make them reach shorter by cutting the wire ...

Can you post up the specific measurements of the coil packs? 1. Depth / reach of the unit in to the head 2 The height above the head 3 The size of the coil above the head. Length & width Or better yet the next time you have one off the car can you take a bunch of photos with a tape measure next...

Looks like a perfect match for old vw motor. Are you going to make a shield for your sensor to reduce the chance of a rock hitting it?

Well I went with the Toyota waste spark coil-packs purely for asthetics. To go with individual cops I would have had to wire two edis4 modules to get the right coil saturation. The Ford cops are a good choice and I have a few just for the chance that I might switch one day. As far as socks on the ho...

Megajolt to the rescue!!! Running the datalogger this spring and I read the data later only to find that above 5400rpm the map reading would drop from 102Kpa to 95Kpa. Intake restriction!!! So I removed my 40mm Solex carbs and installed some mikuni 44's still choked down but with a longer runner int...
